Troubleshooting

Window or Panel Layout Got Messed Up

Panels can be dragged into odd positions by accident. To fix this there are two options:

Option 1 — Quick fix (no restart)

  1. Open the Window menu (top menu bar)
  2. Check whether the panel you are looking for is listed and enabled (checked)
  3. Click any unchecked panel to show it
  4. Drag panels by their title bar back to where you want them

You can also drag a panel to the center of the window to make it a floating window, then drag it back to a dock edge.

Option 2 — Full reset

Settings → Client → Reset → Reset WSi clears personal settings, saved layouts, and other preferences, then restarts WSi with the default layout.

WARNING

A full reset clears more than just the panel layout — most personal preferences are reset. Your licence key and database connection are kept, so you will not need to re-activate or reconnect afterward. See Reset Options for details.

License Key Is Rejected

  • The key must be in UUID format — five groups of characters separated by hyphens (e.g. xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx)
  • If the OK button is greyed out, the format is wrong
  • If you get a "server unreachable" error, your firewall may be blocking the license server
  • If you get a "decommissioned" error, the key is already in use on another machine

Contact your sales representative at WSoptics for a new key if needed.

Import Shows "Unsupported File Version"

Some CAD tools export older file formats that WSi cannot read directly. Try:

  • Saving the file in a newer format from your CAD application
  • Using a neutral format like STEP (AP203 or AP214) instead of a proprietary format

Import File Has Red Status

In the Bulk Import dialog, a red row means WSi could not read the file:

  • The file format may not be supported (supported: DXF, GEO, STEP, WSi)
  • The geometry may contain features WSi cannot process
  • The file may be corrupt

Other rows can still be imported — WSi skips the failed ones.

Part Has No Bend Deduction

If the flat pattern length is wrong, WSi may be missing a bend deduction entry for your material:

  1. Open Settings → Database → Sheet bending - Bend deduction
  2. Check whether a row exists for your material, thickness, and die combination
  3. If missing, add the entry with the correct deduction value

WSi falls back to K-factor calculation when no deduction is set, which may not match your actual bending process.

Material Not Available for a Process

If a material does not appear in the dropdown for a process:

  1. Open Settings → Database → Processes - Sheet material constraints (or tube/purchase part equivalent)
  2. Check whether the material is set to Allowed for that process
  3. If not, add or update the entry

ERP Export Keeps Asking for Credentials

WSi stores ERP credentials per client. If it repeatedly prompts for login:

  1. Open Settings → Client → Local ERP settings → Configuration ERP credentials
  2. Re-enter username and password
  3. Make sure Http bearer authorization is selected if your ERP system uses tokens

On first connection to a new ERP server, you may see a Self-signed certificate prompt asking whether to trust the certificate — click Yes to proceed.
