Tree View

Tree View

The Tree View is a hierarchical overview of all articles and their process nodes. It mirrors the Graph View and is the primary navigation for selecting articles.

The Tree View shows your project as a hierarchical list of articles (parts) and work steps (graph nodes). Use it to navigate the assembly, edit part metadata, and select items to view in the Graph View.

Articles and Work Steps

The tree has two kinds of items:

  • Articles — the parts in your assembly. Each article groups one or more work steps.
  • Work steps — individual manufacturing operations within an article (cutting, bending, and so on).

Articles are shown with an article icon; work steps are shown with a process icon.

Tree display modes

Switch between three display modes using the toolbar buttons on the left of the tree:

ButtonAction
FlattenAll articles on the same level
DeepenFull assembly hierarchy — nested articles show their sub-components
Collapse AllCollapse all expanded items
Expand AllExpand all items

The default mode is Shallow Nested — non-semimanufactured articles are flat, semimanufactured articles are nested.

Columns

Each row displays information across these columns:

Relationship to the Graph View

Selecting an item in the Tree View highlights it in the Graph View — and vice versa. Hovering over an item in the Tree View highlights the corresponding node in the Graph View. Both views stay synchronized and share the same underlying project data.

See Also

  • Graph View — visual representation of the same data as nodes and edges
  • Details Panel — detailed breakdown of the selected article or work step
  • Article Context Menu — actions available when right-clicking an article

Editing Items

  • Rename an article — double-click the Name column.
  • Edit reference numbers — click the relevant column (External Part Number, Internal Part Number, etc.) and type directly.
  • Add a comment — click the Comment column and type.

Changes are saved automatically to the project.

TIP

Use the filter/search bar above the tree to quickly find a specific article or work step by name or reference number.
